More About Katy
Katy was born with neuroblastoma, a type of nerve cancer, wrapped around her spinal cord, resulting in paralysis from the waist down. While she has used a wheelchair her entire life, she has learned to creatively adapt to the world around her and maintain independence. Although the world doesn’t always cater to disabilities, Katy has found ways to thrive.
Her physical care for a child may sometimes look different from the norm, but we’ve actively planned for this. If we weren’t confident in her ability to parent as well as an able-bodied person, we wouldn’t have pursued having children. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask, as we’re an open book.
Messages From Justin
“Katy is one of the most compassionate and loving people I’ve ever met. She constantly shows how much she cares, whether through thoughtful gestures or simply listening after a tough day. She makes me feel understood and supported, even when I’m not perfect. Katy has overcome every obstacle with grace, from earning her degree to building our life together. Her joy in the little things and her love for our nieces and nephews make me certain she will be an amazing mother.”

“Katy’s ability to turn the most ordinary moments into something special amazes me. Whether she’s crocheting a thoughtful gift for a friend or staying up all night getting lost in a book, she brings a sense of wonder and joy to everything she does.”
